Sacrament RPG

The game

A dark fantasy roleplaying game about ordinary people facing dangers that no one else will face.

What you play

Sacrament RPG is a tabletop roleplaying game. One person is the Game Master (GM): they describe the world, play its people and monsters, and decide how the situation responds. Each other player plays a hero, saying what they do and making choices together.

The world is a dark age of stone churches, plague carts and printing presses. The Church orders everyday life. Beyond the consecrated boundaries lie the Unhallowed lands, unexplored ruins and roads that few choose to travel. Read the setting for the world your hero knows.

What happens at the table

The GM describes a problem. A player says what their hero tries. When the outcome is uncertain, roll a twenty-sided die and add the relevant score to meet the Target. If the amount matters, a smaller Effort die measures damage or progress. A simple success may need no further roll.

Ordinary weapons, including bows and crossbows, use Weapons d6. Guns and gunpowder use Guns d8. A Heart is ten hit points. Healing, equipment and the shared Horror give the group decisions beyond simply attacking again.

Healing spells have no casting Horror cost; other spells add 1. A Push is offered only after a failed attack on your turn; the GM can explicitly allow an exception. A successful natural 20 adds an extra Ultimate die to normal Effort when enabled. Crossbows gain +2 accuracy but need a Move to reload. The player guide and GM guide explain the current VTT rules in full.

How the virtual table helps

The Sacrament RPG Table puts heroes, enemies, obstacles and scenes in one shared browser session. Players use their character sheets; the GM prepares scenes and keeps private notes. Rolls and supported item effects are shared and saved by the table.

The GM still decides range, esoteric effects and what the Horror does. Read the guides for the boundary between automatic mechanics and table rulings.

What you need

You can also play without a screen: Play in person has printable sheets, a ready-to-run adventure and a list of what to bring.

No account or installation is needed. Sacrament is being playtested, so the rules and tools will continue to develop. Follow News and send feedback after your session.
